FUNCTIONS

The Policy, Legal & Strategic Communications Division is divided into four units:

POLICY & LEGAL UNIT

This Unit is divided into two purview:

(i) Legal

  • Conducting legal research and providing legal opinion to MdI on insolvency laws
  • Drafting principle and subsidiary legislations relating to insolvency matters in accordance with the government's policy
  • Vetting legal contracts and agreements entered into by MdI

(ii) Policy

  • Conducting legal research and providing legal opinion to MdI on policy development and implementation relating to insolvency matters
  • Planning and coordinating the MdI Strategic Plan 2016 – 2020
  • Coordinating reporting of legal officers of MdI to the Attorney General's Chambers
  • Coordinating reporting to the Minister's office

COMPLAINT & ENQUIRY UNIT

  • Receiving complaints in relation to the administration of bankrupt or wound up companies from members of the public
  • Assisting members of the public by providing information concerning MdI

COMPLIANCE UNIT

  • Monitoring of branches progress on quarterly performance
  • Ensuring compliance of stipulated laws, rules and policies on insolvency law
  • Presenting audit findings to the Director General of Insolvency

STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS UNIT

  • Coordinating the MdI's corporate affairs and undertakes all data requests and dissemination
  • Compiling general publications and coordinates statistical activities and acts as public relation with external agencies
  • Planning, managing and coordinating promotional and publicity programmes of MdI
  • Planning and implementing programmes to foster relations and cooperation with media agencies/NGOs and stakeholders
